The Truth About Twin Gifts

Do you think that twins always like to be dressed alike? Do you think that twins should also receive identical gifts?

If you answered yes to both questions, then you need to know the truth about twin gifts.

When twins are born, many people automatically think its best to send two gifts that are exactly alike. But today's mom may think differently. The days when mothers and daughters wore matching dresses or all of the kids in the family had identical t-shirts is long gone. The modern mom thinks of her twins as individuals and wants to encourage each one to develop their unique personality. She may not appreciate two gifts that are the same especially if the children are both the same sex. If one of the twins is a boy and the other is a girl ; it is not necessary to purchase something gender neutral in green or yellow so that each receives the same exact item.

Here are our suggestions for twin gifts that are different.

1. Choose two gifts that are similar but not exactly alike. For  example, send each twin a security blanket but select different styles for each one.Perhaps, one can be an Angel Dear giraffe napping blanket and the other could be a monkey napping blanket. This way the gifts are exactly the same price but the item is unique for each twin.

2. Buy a gift that is large enough both kids to share. A baby wipe case with two names on it that mom can slip into her purse or diaper bag or a large nursery size wipe case with both names on it for the changing table is a wonderful gift for twins.

3. Custom a quilt that can be used as a wall hanging for the nursery or as mat for tummy time. We love personalizing these shared items with both babies' names to make them a real treasure and to celebrate each child by embroidering their individual name.

4. Choose an identical item like a blanket or towel, but buy each one in a different color. Children learn to recognize colors very early and they will soon learn which blankets belongs to them. By gifting the same item, you have accomplished the very important task of spending the same amount on each gift, but you have added the unique twist of selecting each item in a different color.

5. If you are adamant about sending the same item to each twin; a clever idea is to embroider each item in a different color thread. Again, remember that since children recognize colors early; this may even help them recognize their name embroidered on a gift.

Whatever approach you take to select a terrific twin gift, by adding personalization you automatically made the item unique.
