All the essential baby clothes and blankets for the new baby

Many adults have a personal shopper; your baby is also entitled to a personal shopper. Baby's can't tell you what he needs the first year, so you need to be his personal shopper. If this is your first baby, what a baby needs is somewhat of a mystery. Baby's grow so fast, if you buy too many outfits in a small size, you have wasted a lot of money . If you don't have enough towels, you may find yourself sitting in front of the dryer, waiting for a towel to dry before you can give your baby a bath. Since stuff happens unexpectedly when baby's are concerned, not having enough supplies at the right time, could be pretty unpleasant.

After years of being a mother and grandmother here are my tips for the essential for a basic layette for the first year. Remember baby's soon outgrow their tiny newborn outfits so there is more value in the larger outfits. You can always put a baby in a slightly oversized outfit, but you don't want to stuff him in an outfit that is too tight.

An outfit without feet with last longer than one with feet; so much sure you have socks because tiny feet get cold quickly

At www.namelynewborns.com we recommends these layette items for newborns and babies, from 0 to 12 months:

2 footies or sleepers ( newborn to 3 months)

3 footies or sleepers ( 3-6 months)

3 footies or sleepers (6-12months)

2 newborn onesies

3 onesies( 3-6 months)

3 ones ( 6-12months)

2 pairs of socks newborn to 6 months

4 pairs of socks 3-6 months

2 gowns( these will last the baby from 0-6 months)

4 receiving blankets ( at least 30 by 40 inches.)

3 hooded towels ( minimum 30 " square) with wash cloth

Going home outfit( this baby outfit should include a hat, receiving blanket and outfit that either covers his feet or if it doesn't make sure you have socks)

2 crib or stroller blankets

4 bibs( small drooler bibs)

2 larger bibs for older babies

4 burp pads

2 security blankets

1 comfy cozy

1 stuffed toy

These essentials will see the baby through his first year as long as you are willing to wash daily. If a washer dryer is not easily availble or you don't have time to wash every day you will need more bibs, burps, receiving blankets , footies and onesies.
